Cross Timbers Cowboy Church was founded in 2012 in Butler IL. We met at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds and it became home for us for a season. Gary took a break from CTCC for 3 yrs where he (foolishly) became the pastor of a Baptist Church. In 2017 he again took the reins of CTCC and moved it to Mid-West IL. Sadly we could not retain the use of a suitable building so in 2019 Gary and Wendy moved to Albion Indiana. Currently we are looking to become an "online" church but currently we have a YouTube page where we upload sermons each week.
Cross Timbers Cowboy Church is a bible believing, bible preaching/teaching church. We are not "liberal" in any way nor are we "politically correct" or a ear tickling church. Dr Gary preaches Jesus Christ and Him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:2)
About our pastor
Pastor Gary Hooper was born in Sydney, Australia in 1961 and grew up in rural NSW mostly in the Tamworth and Moree areas. His family owned a 1,000 acre beef cattle property (ranch) in Attunga (25 miles west of Tamworth) and also a 3,000 acre wheat property not far from Moree. This gave Gary a love of rural life and animals. He gave his life to the Lord Jesus in May of 1985. Gary started in ministry later that year as a religious educator in 3 state high schools (yrs 7-12) in Sydney, Australia working under the covering of Richard Ansoul the then pastor of Baulkham Hills Baptist Church. In 1989 Gary moved his family to The Rock, 20 miles south of Wagga, NSW where he spent the next 3 years travelling throughout southern NSW/Northern Victoria teaching on Spiritual Warfare an doing the work of an evangelist.
In late 1991 he was asked to take over as pastor of a church in Wagga.
Fast forward to February 2002. God called Gary and his wife, Wendy to the USA to minister where needed. Since then he has pastored a 5 churches and preached at many more in 26 states. Gary and Wendy have also been involved in disaster relief ministry and a feeding ministry in Houston TX. In 2012 God called Gary and Wendy to Illinois to start Cross Timbers Cowboy Church.
Cross Timbers Cowboy Church is an "old fashioned" church that believes the bible is the infallible word of God. Cowboy churches in general “cater” to those that are into the western heritage lifestyle such as country music, rodeo’s, horse riding, cattle, etc. However they also attract people from all walks of life.
Since Gary’s background is in raising beef cattle and everything rural this type of church suited him perfectly.
Gary has 5 ministry degrees including a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry as well as a number of non ministry qualifications including a Beef Cattle Husbandry degree.
We hope you enjoy being a part of CTCC and we welcome your feedback.
May the Lord bless you mightily.
Dr Gary S Hooper
